Christchurch - 2 May 2011: state of emergency lifted

2 May 2011: The state of emergency declared following the Christchurch earthquake has been lifted.

Visits to the city centre are however still not recommended, with the historic heart of the city not accessible for security reasons. The city centre is divided into several zones, not all of which are accessible. If you need to go there, please check the following website or call 03 941 8999 to find out when and under what conditions this will be possible.

Outside Christchurch, communication and other activities are functioning normally.
