Fight against the financing of terrorism – Adoption of UNSCR 2253 [fr]
France welcomes the unanimous adoption by the Security Council of resolution 2253 (New York - December 17, 2015).
This resolution makes it possible to impose sanctions against Daesh terrorists, as was already the case for members of Al Qaeda, and to extend the sanctions regime currently in force.
Following the adoption of resolution 2249 on November 20 which called on the international community to take all necessary measures to combat Daesh, this text strengthens the mechanisms for combating the financing of terrorism and makes it possible to more effectively address the threat posed by Daesh.
The finance ministers of the member states of the Security Council, including Michel Sapin for France, met on this occasion so that these measures can be implemented immediately.
