Te Whare Hera Visual Arts Residency - 2018 call for applications [fr]
Applications for the Te Whare Hera – Wellington International Artist Residency for 2018 are now open. This programme will host a contemporary French artist in New Zealand four five months in 2018.
French artists and artists working in France are invited to apply before the 14th of November 2016 to take up the residency from January to July 2018. This programme is of particular interest for artists in the middle of their careers. In 2016, artists Etienne de France and the duo Louise Hervé & Chloé Maillet were the first French recipients. Soraya Rhofir will be the next French artist in residence in 2017.
Te Whare Hēra was established in 2014 by Massey University, with the support of the Wellington City Council and the Institut français.
The scheme allows for international visual artists to be hosted as residents in excellent conditions.
In addition to return economy airfares from France, this residency provides an apartment and adjoined studio and gallery suite within the Clyde Quay Wharf development. The artist in residence is also entitled to access to the equipment of Whiti o Rehua, a production budget of $2500 NZD and a grant of $1,000 NZD a month.
The objectives of the Te Whare Hēra residency programme are to offer a hospitable, generative platform for the production of high quality, innovative, creative work by international artists in Wellington, the creative capital of New Zealand, and to enable the best opportunities for the resident artist’s work to be experienced by various audiences. The residence also aims to foster connections and opportunities for ongoing exchange and collaboration.
