The French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS - Centre National de Recherche Scientifique) is recruiting over 400 tenured researchers in all scientific fields. Candidates are chosen on the basis of an application that they have prepared and sometimes an interview. These selections take place once a year, the call for applications usually opens during the month of December preceding the year when the selection takes place.

INRIA is a French public research institute in information and communication science and technology. It is an outstanding and highly visible scientific organisation, a major player in the European Research Area heavily involved in most of research and development programs. INRIA has eight research centres in Paris, Bordeaux, Grenoble, Lille, Nancy, Nice - Sophia Antipolis, Rennes and Saclay that host 160 project-teams in partnership with universities and other research organisations. In 2009, INRIA is opening over 40 new positions within its 8 research centres:
- Junior and senior level positions
- Tenured and tenure-track positions
- Research and joint faculty positions with universities
